How to demagnetize a pipe spool?
We have a pipe spool which is heavily magnetized and can't make the weld. We've tried wrapping ground cables around it in opposing directions and jumped the pipe using ground cables which didn't help. We plan on heating it to around 500 degrees.
Ideas?
Heating it should reduce the magnetism. You will have to go hotter than 500 degrees. You did not give a size for the spool. Wrapping 1000 feet of 12 gage wire onto the spool and plugging it into a 120VAC outlet might do it, although that would be a pain in the A**.
