fishing lure depth can i fish a deep diving fishing lure in water not as deep as it says?

i bought a lure recently its a jj's stump jumper and i really should of looked into it before i got it but it says that it dives to 5.0 metres and i was wondering can i still use this lure if im fishing in water that is not 5 metres deep because i do not have a boat to get out to deeper water please help me thanks.
