Is it possible to microwave your hand?
A microwave's blower kept going after the timer ran out. I reached in to retrieve my food. A light was on. I felt my hand get warmer. Is it possible I microwaved my hand?
YES !
And I can prove it, cause it happened to me.
All a microwave has is two micro switches used to tell the processor when the door is closed and when it is safe to turn on.
Other then a user interface, ( keypad ) and ( display ) the only other things in a microwave are a timer, magnatron, capacitor and a dischaging diode from the cap to the housing to dishcharge the cap after each use to prevent failure of a cap sitting charged for long amounts of times.
Why all the tech-no-geek stuff?>
Cause I repair them as well as vcrs and tvs and such and I have had my hand in the microwave when i tripped the timer while trouble shooting the unit, ( I was hung over ) was not thinking, just doing like most of us do for 10 hours a day.
It was only for a few seconds before the hangover allowed logic of my mind to recall my mistake.
My hand felt like the early stages of a sun burn for about 5 minutes after it happened.
I had to get scans of my hand do to the fact the doctors thought I could have caused thickening of the blood cells which could turn into clots of the small veins,
but all in all i was ok, i didn't have my hand in there long enough to cause any damage.
