How long is a belly button piercing sore for?

i really want to get my belly button pierced, and i finally convinced my mom to let me get one but the only problem is that im a cheerleader and i have practice 3 times a week.i do things like back walkovers, backhandsprings, and back tucks so would stretching like this hurt?will it hurt to bend over or move around and for how long?
thanks. (:

Ignore both those answers...

It will be sore anywhere from 2-4 months and depends on how active you are. You say that you are a cheerleader and I assume you have to a lot of stretching and cheer craziness, yes? This will aggravate your piercing and keep it sore longer. And unless your uniform shows your midriff, tight clothing is the #1 cause of a painful belly piercing. And yes, the more you do these things, the more irritated it can become.

My advice to you is to go ahead and get the piercing, because obviously you really want it, and take more caution then a non-cheerleader would. Ice it and take ibuprofen before and after practice. Take the weekend off and relax: no cheering if you can help it and no real physical work. Take zinc too. This helps speed up the healing process and be sure to get plenty of vitamin C. And never NEVER put a band aide on it during practice or any other time. Big no no.

Good luck :)
