Breed of Parrot that is most capable of talking? And how do you play with a bird?
I really want to get a parrot, people say you nees to give them attention and play with them, but how do you play with a bird??? And whats the best type of Parrot that knows how to talk ( i no you have to train them)
How do you play with a bird? I pick mine up on my hand, kiss his sweet head, scratch his neck, talk to him, give him treats... mostly a lot of cuddling, and a bit rough housing. (he will growl at me when I pretend growl at him.) He's right here by the computer and loves to be talked to, sung to. All birds like to hear their names, lol.
Pretty much any parrot can learn some words or phrases. Some are really hard to understand though.
African Greys are the best known to be good talkers. But, something you must keep in mind is that different breeds have different temperments. While Greys are good talkers, they aren't the most colorful and tend to be 'one man parrots'. Then you have the clowns, Cockies, they are friendly to pretty much everyone and really enjoy life. They are not the greatest talkers.
Parrots do what they want, and you can't make them talk if they don't want to. We had a Grey, and she rarely talked but did a myriad of other sounds and whistles.
Buy a bird based on personality and what best suits your lifestyle. Talk to a breeder, get info online on different breeds. But, please don't purchase a parrot on the basis of 'can it talk?'
