The Coastline and Marine Wildlife: Things to see around Buenos Aires
There are all sorts of reasons why people visit Buenos Aires. Some people come as tourists to see Argentina and South America. Others stay on business, yet others see the city as a regular destination for their holidays.
Whether your stay is a long or a short one, you will find superb rental apartments and luxury hotels in Buenos Aires that offer every comfort. You may even consider approaching a Buenos Aires Real Estate company to find a permanent home, an apartment to buy, or a holiday home.
Whatever your reasons for being in Buenos Aires, you will be missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures if you don't visit some of the glorious scenic areas and the splendid coastline of Argentina.
The country of Argentina is 3,700 kilometers long, but its coastline is almost 5,000 kilometers. This is because it has a rugged, uneven coastline and includes the coastal parts of the adjacent islands.
The coastline varies from sand dunes, to cliffs to rugged rocky areas.
The ocean alongside Argentina has an unusually wide continental platform. It is rich in marine life and fishing. It is believed that there are still a lot of unexploited energy resources in the shelf.
The weather in Argentina is subject to the influence of two ocean currents: The cold Falkland current from the south and the warm Brazil current from the north. The currents together with the uneven coastline can work together to produce some extremes of temperature.
The "narrow" part of Argentina, or the provinces to the South, dominated by the Andes Mountains, is the area known as Patagonia. The coastal waters in this area are abundant in elephant seals, fur seals, sea lions, and several species of penguins.
If you enjoy whale watching, you will also see Southern Right Whales in the cold waters of the South Atlantic, as well as the spectacular sight of Orca or Killer Whales. They have been seen to beach themselves to take seals right off the shore, and then slide back into the water.
Probably one of the best parts to enjoy the marine life of Argentina is at the Valdés Peninsular. This is a wild life sanctuary and a very popular holiday destination.
Here you can take a boat trip with experts to view the whale pods up close, but in a way that does not disturb them. Great care is taken to keep the impact on the whales to a minimum.
It is believed that the best times to see these whales is during September and October. You are also likely to see dolphins and an abundance of bird life.
Way down South, the province of Tierra del Fuego, with its cluster of peninsulas and islands, is another must-see part of the country. Here you will find some of the Southernmost settlements in the world. These parts form the Northern part of the Drake Passage.

What pressures may have resulted in evolution adaption's in seals?
Ones related to New Zealand Fur Seals are prefered but anything you can think of will help please
Many male seals have grown enormously large, while their female mate have stayed at a normal height due to sexual selection and an odd phenomenon where the male population vastly outstrips the female numbers.
There are far more male seals born than female seals and so the female seals get to choose who to have as a mate. The male seals settle this by fighting with each other over the females, and invariably the biggest seal gets to mate. This causes the big seal genes to be passed down, with each successive generation of males growing larger and larger because the runts didn't get to pass on their DNA. The female seals don't have to compete for mates, so they remain relatively small.
