The Numerous Delights Of Grantown-on-Spey, Highland
Grantown-on-Spey - Highland is situated in the Council Area of Highland in Scotland. The Scottish Gaelic name is Baile Ur nan Granndach. The town of Inverness is only about 60km by road. Grantown lies on a plateau next to the river Spey. To the South of Grantown, the beautiful mountains of Cairngorm stretch into the distance.
Grantown-on-Spey isn't a very large town - the population in 2001 was only 2166.
Situated about midway between the Lecht and Cairngorm Ski areas, the town boasts a couple of unusual attractions for its size: an excellent eighteen-hole golf course, the very interesting Grantown Heritage Museum and the lovely Revack Estate with its beautiful gardens, nature trails, an orchid house and also an adventure playground. It's thus a great place to take the family for a day of relaxation in the sun.
The town also makes a great base (and acts as an alternative to Aviemore) for exploring the delights of the Strathspey area. In winter many tourists come to snowboard and ski here, you can do rock climbing, white water rafting, go for long walks, watch wildlife and in general just enjoy nature in all its abundance.
Grantown is of course not far from the center of distillery country. Within a radius of 70 miles you can visit eight distilleries on the Speyside Whiskey Trail. These distilleries vary from huge business enterprises to small, family-run affairs with customized tours and whisky tasting sessions.
There's a large number of lovely places to enjoy a meal in and around Grantown-on-Spey. Whether you just want to enjoy coffee and scones, have a quick lunch, enjoy a traditional pub meal or a suit-and-tie dinner, you are bound to find exactly what you were looking for. There's quite a few eateries on High Street and many others within a short distance from town.
There's a renewed excitement about traditional Scottish dishes and Grantown has more than a fair share of top quality Scottish restaurants managed well-known chefs. Many of the local hotels and guest houses also have restaurants of their own with top quality food at very affordable prices. Traditional dishes such as haggis, venison, lamb, salmon and Scottish beef are old-time favorites, as well as interesting dishes made with whisky and other local produce.
There's enough accommodation in and around Grantown-on-Spey - Highland to satisfy all tastes and budget ranges: from camping sites to hotels, from guest houses to self catering units, with even the odd hostel or two thrown in.

How long will our Queen cat call for?
We have a gorgeous cat whom we want to have 1 litter of kittens and then will have her fixed. We no very little so it's all new to us. It's quite hard to get information as the vet etc just want you to spey your cat. Daisy has started calling (really loud) and been doing this for 2 days so far. How long will this last and any advise/info you can give me I'd luv to have. It's a very exciting time and we want to do all we can to help her. Thanks for your help
Daisys kittens already have homes. We would not let her have a litter without knowing her babies were going to loving families (extended family members and close friends of ours) We will keep at least one of them with her. Thanks for all your advice - really appreciate it!
She can probably last from a week to three weeks. But in average about 9 days, it is usually best to start introducing her to your Tom soon, in order to allow them some time to acclimate with one another. Give them room, maybe even provide them with a mat so he can have a greater grip on the floor when going into action, also make sure trim your girl cat's nails. Sex for cats is painful due to the male cat's penis being comprised of little spikes (this helps to keep the penis inside), so she will scream and attack the male because of this. All in all, after the copulation start her off with high quality kitten food and vitamin supplements to help her along the way. Good luck.
