The function of carpet rods is to hold down the runner carpet that goes on the staircase. They used to be standard features in Victorian homes. However, in addition to their primary function, carpet rods also serve as excellent decorative elements of a home’s interior design. They are essentially like jewelry for your staircase. They add instant style and ambiance, making them a great addition to any interior space. If you’re thinking of installing stairway carpet rods in your home, here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Style
When shopping for carpet rods or other custom hardware for your home, take some time to go online and research the different styles. Look at what would go well with the style of interior décor you already have in your home or that you are thinking of applying. Full Carpet Installation
If you are going to install the carpet rod brackets over the carpet itself, so that the carpet is held in place by the screws, make sure to use longer screws. They’ll have to go through the carpet and also through the sometimes thick underlay and then they must still be long enough to securely grip the stairway and hold the runner carpet firmly in place.
Pilot Holes
Drilling pilot holes into the the stairway steps before installing the carpet rods is a good way to improve the overall ease and sturdiness of the installation.
Get the Measurements
Measure the width of your staircase before you go shopping for carpet rods. Remember that, when choosing, you’ll have to account for not just the length of the rod, but also for the added length of whatever decorative finials you chose to go along with the rods.
