What is the maximum matrix size LAPACK can tackle..?
I want to solve a linear general system using DGESV,
I have tried a matrix size of (5000x5000), but Lapack fails. I am just wondering if any one has tried to solve a large matrix and what is maximum size
How much memory do you have? A5000x5000 matrix has 25million elements. Times eight bytes for a double and you need at least 200MBytes for one copy. I don't know how many copies are needed by this routine, but you are probably pushing a memory allocation limit.
Please keep in mind that there might have been a static memory limit built into the compilation (default settings often limit programs to 64MByte or 256MByte heap size!).
Just guessing here... but I ran into these problems a couple of times in my life.
