Snook Fishing: Tips On How To Hook A Snook
During the spring and summer months avid fishermen hit the water in search of their prime catch, Snook. Snook is known as the stubborn tempermental fish simply because the brand of lures or bait that caught you the glorious Snook days beforemay leave you empty handed the next. Florida is the most popular place for snook fishing. The warm temperatures of the waters are attractive to them and the overgrown mangroves of the Florida Everglades make great hiding places. In this article you will learn the basic guidelines for snook fishing and the most populated areas to ensure victory.
Prime season for Snook fishing is late May through the summer months, a time when the spawning is in full swing. They linger around deep creeks or passes, where you can cast out a line baited withlive pinfish, sardines, grunts or any synthetic lure. Jigs are most effective when you reel them slowly along the bottom of the sea floor. Snook experts say the moon plays a big part in the feeding patterns of this unpredictable fish as its stages affects the tides. They tend to migrate to warmer water and it could either be salt or fresh. Usually if the temperature of the water falls below 60 degrees this could be fatal to Snook. They can be found near shorelines hiding in the holes of rock formations or coral reefs.
Florida is the top destination for Snook fishing during the months June through August. The central West and East coasts, and along the treasure coast, are among the most popular inlets to find breeding Snook. Others include Port Canaveral, New Port Richey, Boca Grande, Tarpon Springs, and the Florida Keys. If a charter boat is more along the lines of what you want, choose a captain who is comfortable with the waters, and who understands the temperament of Snook. Many factors have to harmonize for a successful fishing trip. You do not want to waste your time or money.

You say your after "big stuff" so i suggest you go with a fairly big hook. 5/0-6/0 + would be suitable hook size. As for sinkers you wont need too bigger sinker, the smallest possible would be best. If you are fishing in fast current then you'll want a heavier sinker but if you are just fishing in calm water of a pier then you wont need a very big one.
