How to Maintain Your Ugg Boots

Every Ugg boot or footwear item is manufactured to meet the highest possible standards. Ugg boot quality is a result of a long history of dedication, workmanship and attention to details. Therefore, any upkeep for the attractiveness and life of Ugg Shoes-Australia boots is well worth it. Fortunately, retaining the new look of Ugg-Australian boots is not complicated or even difficult. With a little easy care, they will continue to offer the comfort, durability, and luxury for which Ugg footwear is known.

First, it's important to decide when and where to wear Ugg-Australian boots. Even though they are most often relied upon in winter months to insulate feet against the cold (they're assured for up to 30 degrees below zero), they are not meant to be snow shoes. Furthermore, although they are also worn by surfers to keep their feet warm between catching waves, they should not be used for wading through those waves. In fact, Ugg boots should not be worn be in any other wet conditions, including mud, rain, ice or slush. To prevent unexpected weather from damaging Ugg footwear, it's wise to apply water repellent thoroughly as often as instructed. Doing so will seal the sheepskin from dirt and discoloration as well. The best product for this is Ugg Australia Sheepskin Water and Stain Repellent. Unfortunately, discolorations from, or caused by, another protective product may void Ugg Shoes-Australia's one year warranty.

The first maintenance step is to brush the Uggs with a wire, suede or nubuck brush-in one direction only. If done regularly, this will prevent any dirt or dust from settling among the suede fibers and reduce the potential damage from embedded debris. However, sooner or later, Uggs need to be cleaned in either certain areas or overall. A quality stain eraser can be used to reduce any stains prior to cleaning.

Even though Uggs should not be worn through wet conditions, a little water can be used to cleanse them. However, Ugg-Australia boots should never be put into a washing machine, or cleaned with hot water, since both can cause permanent damage. To clean Ugg-Australian boots by hand, first dampen the boot or specific boot area with a soft sponge, brush, or cloth. Then, dip that same applicator into a small amount of diluted cleaner and rub gently. (Do not drip it directly from the bottle onto the boot.) Remember that any roughness or abrasion may harm the boot surface. The best product to use for the actual cleaning is Ugg Australia Sheepskin Cleaner and Conditioner, which contains natural jojoba and coconut oils. This is known to be safe when used on Uggs. Otherwise, the owner takes a chance with cleaners that may be good for wool or suede, but not necessarily beneficial for sheepskin. If this process does not remove a particular mark, it may be caused by high oil content in the stain. Such stains may be lessened by the application of white chalk or a fine powder and then rubbed again.

Rinse the cleaner off with a little clean water. If the entire boot has been treated, any excess wetness may be squeezed out. Ugg boots should never be stretched to remove water. To retain their proper shape while drying, Ugg Shoes-Australia footwear should be stuffed with paper towels or newspaper. They should then be allowed to air-dry naturally in a warm area, but not in the path of direct heating or sunlight. After they are completely dry, the Uggs (or the places that have been cleaned) should be re-brushed, again in just one direction. Shaking a little baking soda or shoe deodorizer into the boots will eliminate past foot odor and prevent against future smells. The size of the Ugg boot may appear to shrink slightly after drying, but will regain its original fit after being worn a few times.

It's also worthwhile to remember that, with darker colored Uggs, some dye may lift off during the first few wearings and washings. This is just excess coloring and does not mean that the boots will continue to fade or lose all color. (Plus, like all natural fabrics, it's normal for sheepskin to contain irregularities in color and variations in textures, and does not indicate defects in manufacturing.) Finally, storing Uggs in a dry place between wearings will allow them to air out so that they are fresh for the next wearing.

Regarding felt sole shoes for wading boots and waders for Flyfishing. Advantages and disadvantages?

I've seen several people walk into a river for the first time wearing felt soles and they all comment on how they can walk around so much easier with them......

plus side:
1) they stick like they are glued in place(well maybe, but they do stick)
2)if you slip while fighting a fish, you're less likely to fall down & start fillin up in a panic....
3)and this is a huge one, mobility, you'll be able to move away from bushes, or move closer to the feeding lane you are workin, this means shorter casts or less mending of your line
4) they keep you fishin, wading all day in 50 degree water in shorts? derrick doesn't fish where I do, at some places even on 100 degree days you can't be in the water for all that long without having waders, so wearing them can be the difference...if you're spending hours waist deep in 50 degree water you pretty much have to have them.

negatives:1) they do wear out, if you fish hard and walk a bunch you can wear out felt soles in a season, they have kits to replace the soles but in my experience they are pretty beat up by that time, I usually spring for a new pair.

I use felt soled boots with steel cleats, if you think felt sticks well, the cleats with the felt really works well.....
